About the role
We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on and people‑focused Senior HR Officer to oversee the day‑to‑day human resources function for one of our clients. The role involves managing employee relations, disciplinary processes, recruitment and attendance for a sizeable frontline workforce in Nairobi.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain a visible HR presence on the ground, engaging employees and supervisors to identify and resolve people‑related issues early.
- Handle employee relations matters, including grievances, complaints, conflict resolution, disciplinary cases and workplace conduct.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, absenteeism, leave and employee movements, and work with supervisors to address recurring issues.
- Support supervisors and line managers in managing employee performance, setting expectations and documenting follow‑up actions.
- Implement and communicate HR policies, procedures and workplace rules in a practical manner for frontline staff.
- Manage disciplinary processes, ensuring investigations, documentation and compliance with company policy and Kenyan law.
- Oversee end‑to‑end recruitment: sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, onboarding and placement.
- Develop and coordinate induction, orientation and training programmes for new and frontline employees.
- Collaborate with supervisors and department heads to improve productivity and maintain a positive work environment.
- Prepare regular HR reports on attendance, turnover, disciplinary cases, recruitment and other workforce trends.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology or a related field.
- 4–5 years progressive HR experience, preferably in an operational environment with a sizeable frontline workforce.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, conflict‑resolution and problem‑solving skills.
- Good knowledge of Kenyan employment laws and HR best practices; professional HR certification is an advantage.
- Proven experience managing employee relations, disciplinary processes, attendance management and recruitment.
- Experience supervising unskilled or semi‑skilled employees on a day‑to‑day basis.
