Senior Operations Manager - Investment Management

About the role

An established investment firm in Nairobi is looking for a Senior Operations Manager to oversee daily operations, strengthen internal controls and improve operational efficiency. The role ensures accurate transaction processing, effective reporting and compliance with financial sector regulations. It suits an experienced financial services professional with strong operational leadership, regulatory compliance and risk management skills.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations for efficiency, accuracy and compliance with procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate investment transactions, reconciliations, settlements and operational reporting.
• Develop, implement and review operational policies, procedures and workflows, and monitor performance for continuous improvement.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial and investment transactions.
• Ensure adherence to Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) regulations and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate regulatory reporting, internal and external audits and compliance documentation, and develop internal controls to reduce errors, financial exposure and compliance risks.
• Liaise with banks, fund managers, custodians, trustees, brokers and investors, and maintain accurate operational records.
• Supervise the operations team, set performance expectations and prepare operational reports for senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in operations within investment management, capital markets, banking, fund administration or financial services.
• Demonstrated experience in operational risk management, internal controls and process improvement.
• Proven ability to coordinate stakeholders and maintain effective operational procedures.
• Strong leadership, analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Relevant professional qualifications in finance, investment, banking or risk management are an added advantage.

Required skills

• Knowledge of CMA and CBK regulatory frameworks.
• Understanding of capital markets, investment products, reconciliations, settlements and regulatory reporting.
• Financial services operations management, regulatory compliance and reporting, and investment transaction coordination.
