Senior Project Manager – English & School Education

About the role

The Senior Project Manager will lead the English and School Education portfolio for the British Council, ensuring high‑quality, compliant delivery of contracts and programmes worldwide. You will combine strategic planning with hands‑on programme management to drive impact and support the organisation’s mission of building connections and understanding across cultures.

Key responsibilities

• Drive business planning, performance analysis and continuous improvement across the portfolio.
• Provide direction and leadership for project delivery, fostering collaboration, accountability and high performance.
• Champion Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) principles throughout programme design and implementation.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with partners, clients, stakeholders and delivery organisations.
• Oversee budgets, forecasting, expenditure and financial reporting to ensure effective resource use.
• Lead programme planning, implementation, risk management, monitoring, evaluation and procurement.
• Promote equity, anti‑racism and wellbeing within teams and programme activities.

Required profile

• First‑degree qualification in a relevant field.
• Significant senior‑level experience in project management, preferably within education or language programmes.
• Proven ability to manage large budgets, financial reporting and risk analysis.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement, partnership development and knowledge sharing.
• Strong commitment to EDI principles and inclusive programme delivery.
