SEZ Tax Officer – KRA & eTIMS Specialist

About the role

The SEZ Tax Officer will manage all tax transactions for the company within Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) systems, ensuring full compliance with local tax laws and SEZ regulations. This role is pivotal for accurate VAT, withholding tax, and customs documentation while supporting ERP integration.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain compliance through iTax and eTIMS, uploading and validating tax invoices.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns, withholding tax returns, import & customs documentation, and excise/levy documents where applicable.
• Review and manage SEZ tax exemptions, customs benefits, and monitor local market sales tax implications.
• Coordinate with customs authorities, clearing agents, finance and procurement departments.
• Handle KRA audits, investigations, and tax inquiries, ensuring all supporting documents meet regulatory standards.
• Generate monthly and annual tax compliance reports and support ERP tax documentation accuracy.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or Business Administration.
• Preferred certifications: CPA, ACCA.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Kenyan taxation, SEZ/EPZ environments, and direct handling of KRA systems.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication in English and professional interaction with government authorities.

• Import & customs procedures, including PIN registration and customs entry.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• ERP systems experience (Odoo, SAP ERP).
• ETR/eTIMS integration, Import IDF processing, and customs exemption handling.
