Surgical Technologist – 13‑Week Assignment (Staffing Resource Office)

About the role

The Surgical Technologist provides technical support during the peri‑operative period, working under the supervision of a registered nurse. This position is part of the Staffing Resource Office and offers 13‑ to 26‑week assignments at hospitals within the BayCare network.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies as needed.
• Ensure compliance with accepted clinical standards of care and hospital policies.
• Participate in on‑call duties and occasional weekend work.
• Adhere to shift schedules, typically 6:30 am–5:00 pm, with flexibility based on assignment needs.

Required profile

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program **or** military/hospital‑based training with at least 5 years acute‑care experience.
• Minimum 1 year of surgical technology experience in a hospital setting **or** 5 years without certification.
• NBSTSA certification preferred; BLS certification required.
• Must reside within 30 minutes of the assigned hospital.
