UX Product Manager – PAYGo Phones
sunking · Nairobi
Job description
About the role
The User Experience Product Manager – PAYGo Phones will own the end‑to‑end product experience for Sun King’s pay‑as‑you‑go financed smartphone customers, sales agents, retailers and field staff across multiple markets. You will ensure low‑friction journeys, robust tools and scalable integrations from acquisition through activation, usage and repayment.
Key responsibilities
- Map and optimise the full customer lifecycle – discovery, application, credit assessment, activation, repayment, assistance and upgrades – reducing friction especially in sign‑up, identity verification and device activation.
- Research field agents’ workflows and design mobile apps and dashboards that enable prospecting, onboarding, sales processing and performance tracking in low‑bandwidth environments.
- Design internal tools for field staff to monitor agent activity, identify under‑performers and intervene early, including visibility dashboards for activation rates, repayment trends and stock levels.
- Define the user experience of mobile device management (MDM), own its roadmap and ensure policies are fair, transparent and compliant across markets.
- Define and track experience metrics, run experiments, and communicate insights to commercial, operations, engineering and country teams.
Required profile
- 8–10 years of experience in UX product management, digital product ownership or a closely related role.
- Proven ability to design for multiple distinct user groups, including consumers and operational/field users.
- Track record of conducting or commissioning user research and turning findings into product improvements.
- Experience in mobile‑first, low‑bandwidth or emerging‑market environments (advantage).
- Background in consumer finance, telecoms, device financing or distribution‑heavy businesses (advantage).
- Experience working across several countries with different regulatory and cultural contexts.
- Degree in design, business, technology or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
What we offer
- Professional growth in a rapidly expanding, high‑social‑impact industry.
- Open‑minded, collaborative culture driven by innovation and impact.
- Multicultural experience working with colleagues from diverse geographies.
- Structured learning and development programmes through the Sun King Center for Leadership.
- Commitment to a diverse, inclusive workplace with explicit non‑discrimination policies.
