Vehicle Condition Inspector

About the role

ACV Auctions is seeking an enthusiastic Vehicle Condition Inspector who loves cars and enjoys explaining vehicle details to clients. The role involves inspecting vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off‑lease locations, creating detailed condition reports, and supporting the sales team.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical issues.
• Prepare and submit detailed condition reports, including repair or replacement cost estimates.
• Take comprehensive photos of each vehicle and upload them using the company‑issued smartphone.
• List inspected wholesale vehicles on the ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing.
• Partner with Territory Managers and other Inspectors to enhance the customer experience.
• Travel to dealerships and client locations, maintaining strong relationships with dealers.
• Assist the sales team with up‑selling and cross‑selling services and products.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in the automobile field with knowledge of body, paint, and mechanical repair.
• Strong customer‑service background and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform manual labor (standing, lifting 25 lb+, bending, squatting).
• Valid driver’s license and access to a registered, insured vehicle.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Ability to operate both manual and automatic vehicle transmissions.
• Proficiency with web‑based applications and relevant software packages.
