About the role
The International Rescue Committee is seeking a solutions‑driven WASH Officer to lead technical oversight, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of hygiene and sanitation initiatives. The role works closely with project stakeholders, partners and other sector teams to ensure high‑quality, community‑focused interventions.
Key responsibilities
- Support planning, design and methodology for hygiene and sanitation components of projects.
- Develop specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), design reports and technical specifications.
- Ensure implementation follows approved SOPs, donor guidelines and humanitarian standards.
- Coordinate with the WATSAN Officer to align hygiene promotion with water supply and sanitation activities.
- Facilitate training for Water Management Committees, community structures, health workers and local authorities on improved hygiene and sanitation practices.
- Monitor and evaluate activities to guarantee timely delivery and impact.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in technical oversight of hygiene and sanitation projects.
- Ability to consult with diverse stakeholders and ensure complementarity with health, nutrition, DRR and livelihood sectors.
- Commitment to inclusive community engagement, promoting participation of women, men, children, youth, people with disabilities and special interest groups.
