Access to Capital Associate – Energy Finance

About the role

The Access to Capital Associate will design and implement financing solutions that unlock capital for decentralized renewable energy projects across Africa. You will work at the intersection of energy access, climate finance and infrastructure investment to remove financial bottlenecks for minigrid developers.

Key responsibilities

• Support and execute AMDA’s Access to Capital strategy, creating scalable financing models for minigrids.
• Analyse business models, project economics and bankability of minigrid projects, identifying barriers such as currency risk and tenure mismatches.
• Engage with development finance institutions, private investors and financial institutions to develop tailored financing structures.
• Assess financing needs of AMDA members and deliver training on project structuring, corporate finance and fundraising readiness.
• Lead initiatives from design through delivery, producing tools, frameworks and practical financing guides.
• Prepare meeting notes, briefs and progress reports, ensuring coordination with senior leadership.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, project finance, consulting or DFI programmes.
• Strong financial modelling and valuation capabilities.
• Understanding of blended finance, capital structuring and African infrastructure or energy markets (preferred).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to thrive in fast‑moving, multi‑priority environments.
