Accounting & Finance Associate (G-6) – Fixed Term

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an Accounting & Finance Associate (G‑6) on a fixed‑term basis at its Nairobi office. The role supports efficient financial recording, reporting and oversight to ensure resources are used effectively for programmes that benefit children in Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and assist with financial reports, compile data and respond to queries to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Act as the local finance focal point, verifying invoices and submissions to the Global Shared Services Centre.
• Monitor and reconcile daily expenditures, balances and payments.
• Enter and verify data from various sources, maintaining completeness and accuracy.
• Produce scheduled and ad‑hoc reports for audits, budgets and other requirements.
• Support year‑end account closure and preparation of financial statements.
• Provide guidance to staff and consultants on allowances, claims and related financial matters.
• Maintain relationships with local banks, monitor exchange rates and prepare reconciliations.
• Assist with budget preparation, cost estimates and analysis for projects.

Required profile

• Completed secondary education.
• Minimum six years of relevant experience in finance and accounting.
