Assistant General Manager – Luxury Safari Lodge

About the role

&Beyond is hiring an Assistant General Manager for its Kichwa Tembo and Bateleur Camp luxury tented camp in Kenya. The role supports the General Manager in managing the lodge and its staff, takes over full responsibility during the GM's leave, and acts as the key link between the GM, management teams and lodge staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage lodge budgets with the lodge accountant, help structure and project-manage capital expenditure, and drive cost optimisation and cost controls
• Oversee day-to-day operations of Heart of House and Front of House areas, including daily briefings with heads of department and maintenance oversight
• Ensure operational, service and brand standards are met, uphold the Golden Thread, and maintain Best Operation Practices, styling guides and reporting tools
• Support HR on labour relations, leave and medical funds; work with the executive chef and head ranger on menus, food budgets and guiding standards
• Host agents, media and VIP groups, check forecasts and reservations, and communicate with the Bateleur House, Nairobi office, agents, marketing and reservations teams
• Drive sustainability initiatives, community development projects and relationships with government, wildlife and community organisations
• Support the Life and recognition programmes, annual and monthly training plans, and emergency preparedness and crisis management

Required profile

• At least 8 years of management experience, including previous management of an operation with more than 30 beds
• Experience in the service industry, especially with guests and staff
• Proactive, calm under pressure, decisive, and able to work with local communities
• Commitment to conservation, sustainability and community development
