Bar Manager - GMC Restaurant and Funplace

About the role

GMC Restaurant and Funplace in Kitengela is hiring an experienced, self-driven Bar Manager who will organize the activities of the bar and lounge, maintain high standards of beverage service and customer satisfaction, and help maximize profits. The successful candidate reports to the General Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Handle customer complaints and resolve conflicts so the bar is well staffed during peak hours.
• Manage business aspects of the bar: liquor license, supplier contracts, inventory and reordering, budgets and goals.
• Monitor the set-up of the bar and lounge, assist with private functions and hospitality.
• Ensure training is in place and used daily, and assign and instruct bar and lounge staff.
• Produce daily bar/lounge reports, manage stock and take stock, and develop operating standards in line with the Kenya Alcohol Regulation Policies and Alcoholic Drinks Controls Act.
• Take part in the annual budget, oversee department functions and run promotional events.
• Control beverage and labour costs, maintain bar stock levels and develop cost-saving measures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Hospitality Management or a related field.
• Three years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of business management and accounting principles.
• Ability to work under pressure and use a moderately complex computer system.

Required skills

• Knowledge of beverage operations, drinks and cocktails, and of beers, liquors and wines.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and customer service skills.
