Maintenance Head (Live-In)

About the role

&BEYOND is hiring a Maintenance Head for its Suyian Lodge in Nairobi, Kenya. This is a permanent live-in position based at the lodge, responsible for overseeing maintenance, inspections, repairs and coordination of service contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Team coordination: assign and monitor tasks for mechanics and maintenance staff, run daily briefings and stay on the radio to assist with maintenance tasks.
• Inspections: check lodge facilities and key systems such as water treatment, generators, solar system, HVAC and electrical panels.
• Repairs and maintenance: assist with and oversee urgent repairs (plumbing leaks, electrical issues) and keep equipment and vehicles in working order.
• Service contractors: coordinate, schedule and monitor subcontractors, provide access to areas, verify completed work and keep them in touch with the lodge.
• Logistics: monitor fuel levels for generators and vehicles, gas levels in bulk tanks and portable bottles, and keep tools and consumables stocked.
• Record-keeping: update logs of completed work, equipment usage and issues resolved, and complete daily dips and recordings.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead and supervise a team effectively.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with sustainability practices in maintenance operations.
• Proficiency in record-keeping and reporting.
• Valid driver's license.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive and an effective communicator.
