Business Development Executive

About the role

The client, a trusted financial backbone for Africa's ambitious businesses, is seeking three high‑performing Business Development Executives to drive growth by selling technology, financial and enterprise solutions to SMEs and large organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Build and manage a qualified pipeline of new SME, mid‑market and enterprise opportunities.
• Identify, approach and engage senior decision‑makers such as CEOs, CFOs, COOs, Finance Directors, IT Managers and Procurement Managers.
• Lead discovery conversations, translate customer needs into solution proposals and deliver persuasive presentations and demos.
• Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and qualification through negotiation, closing and hand‑over.
• Meet monthly and quarterly targets for revenue, new customers and pipeline development.
• Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts and opportunity notes.
• Develop strategic account relationships and identify upsell and cross‑sell opportunities.
• Collaborate with implementation, product and customer‑success teams to ensure smooth customer transition.
• Provide market feedback, competitor insights and customer needs to the business.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of successful B2B sales or business development experience in a target‑driven environment.
• Proven record of winning new business and meeting or exceeding sales targets.
• Experience selling solutions to organisations, not just handling inbound enquiries.
• Successful sales experience in at least two of the following sectors: Retail, Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare & Education; Manufacturing, Engineering & Production; Construction & Real Estate; E‑commerce & Digital Commerce; Hospitality.
• Confidence engaging business owners, senior managers and other decision‑makers.
• Hands‑on experience with prospecting, pipeline management, negotiation, closing and CRM discipline.
• Strong communication, presentation and commercial judgement.
