Business Development Manager - Electronic Security Systems
Career Directions Limited (CDL) · Nairobi Area
Job description
About the role
Career Directions Limited is recruiting a Business Development Manager for an established provider of integrated electronic security systems (surveillance, access control, fire detection, building management, visitor and parking management) with clients in government, finance and commercial sectors across Kenya and the region. The role reports to the CEO, is based in Nairobi with travel to project sites and client meetings, and focuses on building relationships with consultants, quantity surveyors, architects, project owners and security managers so the client gets early visibility and preference in projects under construction or in the pipeline.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with consultants, quantity surveyors, architects, project owners, developers and security managers in the built-environment and infrastructure ecosystem.
- Proactively map and track projects under construction or in the pipeline, engaging stakeholders early.
- Represent the client at industry events, professional association forums, site visits and networking functions.
- Position the client as a trusted partner for electronic security and safety systems with key influencers and decision-makers.
- Generate and qualify leads, then hand them off to the presales team for quotation and the design team for solution development.
- Maintain an accurate, up-to-date record of relationships, engagements and opportunities in the CRM, and feed market intelligence such as competitor activity, upcoming tenders and industry trends to management.
- Work with presales and design teams to ensure a smooth internal handoff once an opportunity is identified, and own delivery against the agreed sales target.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or a related field.
- 3-5 years of proven B2B business development or relationship management experience, ideally in construction, built environment, security or ICT-related industries.
- An existing network among consultants, architects, quantity surveyors or project owners is highly desirable.
- Strong track record of relationship-building and networking at a senior level, with excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Self-driven, comfortable with autonomy and confident engaging with architects, consultants, project owners and senior stakeholders.
- Prior experience in the ELV or electronic security domain is a strong added advantage.
What we offer
- Product and technical training on onboarding; no prior security-systems product knowledge required.
- Support from dedicated presales and design teams, allowing full focus on relationship-building and pipeline generation.
- A high-profile, high-autonomy role representing an established, reputable brand.
