Chief, Investigations

About the role

The Chief, Investigations leads UNDP's Office of Audit and Investigations (OAI) misconduct investigations across Central and West Africa and East and Southern Africa, including specialized sexual misconduct matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage regional misconduct investigation teams and the Sexual Misconduct Team, ensuring timely, high‑quality case handling and reporting.
• Oversee investigation caseloads, conduct regular case reviews, and ensure compliance with international guidelines and UNDP policies.
• Provide senior investigative expertise on complex, high‑priority or sensitive cases and mentor staff.
• Leverage IT forensics, financial forensics, AI, data analytics and open‑source tools to enhance investigations while maintaining information security.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in leading investigations of fraud, corruption, sexual exploitation, harassment and other misconduct.
• Proven ability to supervise multi‑location teams, foster a supportive workplace culture and deliver professional development.
• Strong knowledge of UNDP’s investigative frameworks, international guidelines and relevant legal standards.
