Full Charge Bookkeeper (CPA) – Construction & Small Business

About the role

Our client, a US‑based accounting and tax firm, seeks a Full Charge Bookkeeper with CPA credentials to own the complete bookkeeping cycle for small‑business clients in construction, oil & gas, and wellness. You will set up QuickBooks Online files, design chart of accounts, reconcile accounts, close months, and deliver financial statements that owners rely on for strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle bookkeeping for assigned clients, from daily entry to month‑end close and reporting.
• Accurately categorize every transaction, ensuring correct account, class, job, and cost‑code coding.
• Perform monthly bank and credit‑card reconciliations for all client accounts.
• Handle accounts payable and receivable, including vendor invoice processing and customer billing support.
• Accrue expenses, post adjusting journal entries, and prepare year‑end 1099 documentation.
• Maintain construction job costing, coding labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and equipment to appropriate jobs and cost codes.
• Support work‑in‑progress (WIP) reporting, percentage‑of‑completion tracking, progress billing, and lien waiver coordination.
• Prepare and deliver monthly financial statement packages (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with clear, actionable summaries.
• Identify and flag variances, cash‑flow concerns, or anomalies proactively.

Required profile

• CPA license or actively pursuing CPA licensure.
• Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online, including company setup and chart‑of‑accounts design.
• Demonstrated experience in full‑cycle bookkeeping for small businesses.
• Hands‑on experience with construction bookkeeping and job costing.
• Ability to prepare accurate financial statements and support external CPAs or tax preparers.
