General Manager, GreenSM Kenya

About the role

GreenSM is looking for a General Manager to lead its launch and growth in Kenya, owning the full P&L and building an all-electric ride-hailing and mobility business from the ground up. The role is based in Nairobi with regular travel to other cities, reports to the Regional CEO / Head of International Markets, and requires fluent English (Swahili is a strong advantage).

Key responsibilities

• Strategy and P&L: develop the Kenya market entry and 3-5 year growth strategy, own the annual budget, revenue targets and unit economics, and identify new service lines and expansion cities.
• Operations and fleet: oversee ride-hailing operations, manage EV procurement, maintenance, depots and charging infrastructure.
• Drivers and supply: recruit, train and retain drivers, including partner-driver and fleet-owner models, with a fair earnings model.
• Commercial, marketing and customer experience: launch the brand, acquire riders, set pricing and promotions, and work with product teams to localise the app and payments (e.g. M-Pesa).
• Regulatory and stakeholder relations: secure licences and approvals with bodies such as the NTSA, KRA, Kenya Power and EPRA, and represent the company with government, investors and communities.
• Safety, quality and risk: set safety, insurance and incident-response standards and maintain risk and audit controls.
• People and culture: build a local leadership team and a culture of safety, integrity and sustainability.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics or a related field; MBA or equivalent is an advantage.
• 10+ years of progressive experience, including 5+ years in a general management or country-head role with full P&L accountability.
• Proven track record launching or scaling a business in ride-hailing, mobility, logistics, automotive, EV, e-commerce or a similar platform business.
• Strong knowledge of the Kenyan business, regulatory and political environment, with an established network in government and industry.
• Experience managing large, operations-heavy teams and multiple stakeholders across countries is an advantage.

• Strategic thinking with strong commercial, financial and analytical skills.
• Leadership, negotiation, communication and stakeholder management.
• Fluent English; knowledge of EV technology, charging infrastructure and sustainability is a strong plus.
