Grants and Compliance Officer

About the role

Kakenya's Dream is looking for a Grants and Compliance Officer based in Nairobi (Westlands). The role covers the end-to-end administration of donor grants, donor reporting, budget oversight and proposal support across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate grant administration from award to close-out, maintain grant systems and documentation, and handle amendments, budget revisions and no-cost extensions
• Monitor compliance with donor regulations, safeguarding standards and statutory requirements, and support donor monitoring visits, audits and corrective actions
• Organize grant review meetings, track milestones and deliverables, and coordinate Program, Finance, MEAL and Communications teams
• Prepare and submit donor narrative and financial reports, track reporting schedules and keep a central repository of grant documents
• Work with Finance to monitor expenditure, flag budget variances and support budget revisions and donor approvals
• Support proposal development, compile technical, financial and operational inputs, review proposals for donor compliance and maintain proposal templates and funding opportunity databases
• Document lessons learned, support staff orientation and capacity building, and contribute to grants management tools and SOPs

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Finance, Development Studies, International Relations, Public Administration or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in grants management, donor compliance, proposal development, project administration or program support in the NGO or development sector
• Experience coordinating donor-funded projects and managing institutional donor grants
• Experience preparing donor reports and supporting proposal development
• Experience working with Program, Finance, MEAL, Procurement and Operations teams
• A professional certification in Grants Management, Project Management or Monitoring and Evaluation is an added advantage
