Head of Business Development – Hotel

About the role

The Head of Business Development will design and execute growth strategies to maximise revenue and market share for a hotel property. You will unlock new business segments, secure corporate contracts and build long‑term relationships with key industry players.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate and implement long‑term business development strategies targeting high‑value corporate travel, MICE and group bookings.
• Monitor hospitality trends, competitor pricing and market demand to capture untapped customer segments.
• Partner with Revenue Management and Marketing to align promotional campaigns, pricing and business development goals.
• Build and maintain a robust pipeline of corporate clients and event planners, managing the sales cycle from outreach to contract finalisation.
• Source, negotiate and close large‑scale group bookings such as conferences, trade shows, weddings and executive retreats.
• Establish commercial terms and manage relationships with premium partners including tour operators, wholesalers and event organisers.
• Lead, mentor and set quarterly sales targets for the commercial team (Business Development, Account Executives, Marketing, Social Media and Event Coordinators).
• Oversee use of Property Management tools to ensure data integrity and accurate account histories.
• Prepare and present monthly pipeline updates, ROI analyses and revenue forecasts to the General Manager and owners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing or a related field (MBA a plus).
• 5+ years of experience in business development, commercial strategy or high‑end sales within hospitality or MICE, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
