Head of Credit – Lead Credit Portfolio Management

About the role

The Head of Credit will own the end‑to‑end management of the credit portfolio, from assessment and approval through monitoring, collections and legal recovery. Reporting to the Managing Director, this senior role is responsible for safeguarding capital, liquidity and asset quality while supporting sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a credit risk strategy aligned with business objectives, setting limits, approval thresholds and portfolio quality standards.
• Lead Credit Analysts to deliver high‑quality, independent credit assessments and approve proposals within delegated authority.
• Monitor portfolio performance, PAR and NPL metrics, conduct stress testing and provide actionable recommendations to senior management.
• Direct the Debt Recovery Unit, set recovery targets, and manage external collection agencies and legal actions.
• Maintain and update credit policies, scorecards and risk‑rating tools, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Produce regular credit risk dashboards and board‑level reports on portfolio size, growth, PAR, NPLs, recoveries and concentration risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Banking, Credit or Risk Management; a Master’s degree or professional qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum 8 years progressive credit management experience in a regulated financial institution, including at least 5 years in a senior credit role.
• Proven track record of improving portfolio quality, reducing PAR/NPLs and driving collections and recoveries.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel for portfolio analysis and reporting.
• Experience with loan‑management systems and credit risk dashboards.
