Head of Product Control & Accounting

About the role

Moniepoint is seeking a senior leader to bridge Finance with Product & Technology. The Head of Product Control & Accounting will ensure every new product, feature or pricing change is designed with the correct accounting treatment before it reaches customers, and will oversee the end‑to‑end flow from transaction capture to financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical accounting partner for Product and Engineering on all new initiatives.
• Prepare technical accounting memoranda covering IFRS 15 revenue recognition, IFRS 9 financial instrument classification, and fee versus interest income treatment.
• Design, build and maintain a consistent chart of accounts for existing and new products across entities.
• Map each stage of the customer journey to the appropriate general‑ledger treatment.
• Review product and engineering specifications pre‑launch to identify accounting and control gaps.
• Own reconciliation between product system data and the general ledger, resolving discrepancies at source.
• Implement and document controls such as maker‑checker, reconciliation and exception handling for new product flows.
• Maintain a living library of product‑specific accounting documentation.
• Collaborate with Financial Control, Internal Audit and external auditors on product‑related queries.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent) with at least 8 years post‑qualification experience.
• Background in Big 4 technical accounting or audit.
• Experience translating product or system designs into accounting treatments and GL structures.
• Comfortable engaging directly with engineers and product managers.
• Preferably experienced in payments, fintech or banking environments.
