Head of Sales & Marketing – Edible Oils & Fats (FMCG)

About the role

Career Directions Limited is recruiting, on behalf of a leading FMCG client in the edible oils and fats sector, a Head of Sales & Marketing for the Edible Oils & Fats category. Based in Kiambu County and reporting to the Customer Response Team, the role leads the full P&L and drives sales growth, market share, pricing discipline, profitability, distribution and brand performance across Kenya and regional markets. It sits within a commercial transformation focused on customer centricity, data-driven decisions and stronger integration of sales, marketing and trade.

Key responsibilities

• Own the category P&L and lead business planning and forecasting with Production, Supply Chain, Finance and others
• Lead national sales teams and regional sales heads to meet revenue, distribution, volume and profitability targets
• Develop route-to-market strategies and build strategic distributor relationships
• Drive trade marketing and channel activation across General Trade, Modern Trade and other channels, optimising promotions, pricing and pack architecture
• Develop portfolio and brand strategies, working with R&D on new products and category growth
• Adopt BI tools, CRM and digital dashboards, and explore e-commerce and digital trade opportunities
• Build and develop a high-performing commercial team, including succession planning

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics or a related field; MBA or similar preferred
• 12-15 years of FMCG commercial leadership, including at least 5 years managing a significant category P&L
• Proven experience in the edible oils/fats category and across General Trade and Modern Trade
• Experience integrating sales, marketing and trade marketing, and leading large commercial teams
• Distributor management, route-to-market optimization, pricing, trade investment and commercial planning
