Hospital Administrator – Busia

About the role

The Hospital Administrator will provide overall leadership and operational oversight for the facility in Busia, ensuring efficient service delivery, financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and a positive patient experience. This senior role reports to senior management and works closely with multidisciplinary teams to achieve strategic and operational targets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operations of the hospital, coordinating all departments.
• Drive achievement of operational, financial, quality, patient experience, and growth targets.
• Develop, implement and monitor operational plans, budgets and performance‑improvement initiatives.
• Monitor revenue performance, expenditures, collections, cost control and resource utilization; take corrective actions on variances.
• Identify and implement opportunities for revenue growth, service expansion and operational efficiency.
• Ensure adequate staffing, effective workforce deployment, performance management and employee engagement in partnership with HR.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless service delivery across departments.
• Maintain compliance with healthcare laws, licensing, accreditation standards and organizational policies.
• Champion quality improvement, patient safety, risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor patient experience metrics, handle feedback, complaints and service‑related concerns.
• Prepare regular performance reports highlighting achievements, gaps, risks and recommended actions.
• Identify operational risks and implement mitigation measures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Health Services Management or a related field.
• Minimum three (3) years of progressive experience in healthcare administration or management, preferably in a hospital or private healthcare setting.
• Proven experience managing healthcare operations, people and facility performance.
• Strong understanding of healthcare quality management, regulatory compliance, patient safety and accreditation requirements.
• Good grasp of healthcare financial and operational performance, including revenue management.
