HSEEP Cybersecurity/Infrastructure Protection Exercise Professional

About the role

Cybervance is seeking experienced cybersecurity professionals to support the design, execution and evaluation of HSEEP‑based cyber‑exercise programs for U.S. government agencies. Multiple contract positions are available across several U.S. locations, with the possibility of conversion to permanent roles.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, plan and conduct cybersecurity and infrastructure‑protection exercises following the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) standards.
• Monitor, analyze and respond to cyber threats using security tools, vulnerability scanners and SIEM platforms.
• Design, implement and maintain security controls, network architectures and cloud security solutions.
• Produce after‑action reports, lessons learned and recommendations to improve resilience.
• Collaborate with federal stakeholders, incident response teams and subject‑matter experts.

Required profile

• 2–5 + years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, security engineering or security operations.
• Fundamental and Intermediate HSEEP certification preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Relevant certifications such as CySA+, CISSP, or comparable.

Required skills

• HSEEP methodology and exercise development.
• Python and PowerShell scripting/automation.
• Security tools, vulnerability scanning, SIEM (e.g., Splunk, QRadar).
• Network protocols, Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Cloud security concepts and frameworks.
• Threat intelligence analysis and incident response.
