Human Resource Officer (HRO)

About the role

The Human Resource Officer will support the HR Manager in delivering HR functions at Victoria Homestore, ensuring compliance with policies and Kenyan labour legislation while fostering an employee‑centric workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain work structures, job descriptions and coordinate performance management, including appraisals and KPI setting.
• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment, from job posting to onboarding, and maintain accurate recruitment records.
• Coordinate training programmes, maintain the training calendar and evaluate training effectiveness.
• Assist payroll preparation, verify attendance, leave and benefits data, and respond to employee compensation queries.
• Provide HR guidance on employee relations, handle grievances, disciplinary processes and promote a positive workplace culture.
• Maintain accurate employee files, HR databases and prepare regular HR reports and dashboards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field; CHRP or equivalent is a plus.
• 2–3 years of HR experience, preferably in retail or fast‑paced environments.
• Working knowledge of Kenyan employment laws and HR best practices.

Required skills

• Experience with HRIS and payroll/attendance systems.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities.
