ICT Officer I

About the role

Bandari Maritime Academy in Westlands, Nairobi, is recruiting an ICT Officer I (reference BMA/26/CEO/ICT1/17). The post reports to the Senior ICT Officer and covers the installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of ICT infrastructure, programming, user support and the day-to-day management of information technology platforms. The terms of service are permanent and pensionable.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, operate and maintain computer hardware and software systems and the ICT infrastructure at the Academy.
• Write and test computer programmes according to instructions and specifications.
• Provide user support and train users.
• Implement computer systems and perform technical, systems and user documentation tasks.
• Analyse the feasibility of system requirements and develop system specifications.
• Manage the day-to-day operation of the information technology platforms.
• Provide specifications for the procurement of ICT equipment and ensure effective and efficient use of ICT resources.
• Ensure the security of information and networks.
• Implement strategic ICT plans.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience at the grade of Assistant Information Communication Officer II or in a comparable position.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, Business Information Technology, Information Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or equivalent certification from a recognised institution.

What we offer

• Basic salary scale of Kshs. 56,000 to Kshs. 99,500 per month.
• House allowance of Kshs. 15,000 and commuter allowance of Kshs. 14,000.
• Leave allowance of Kshs. 6,000 annually.
• Permanent and pensionable terms of service.
