Information and Knowledge Management Intern

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking an Information and Knowledge Management Intern to support the front‑office of the Director’s Office, Ecosystems Division in Nairobi. The six‑month internship will involve improving digital filing systems, assisting with document migration and supporting staff in using Microsoft 365 tools.

Key responsibilities

• Re‑organise and optimise SharePoint/OneDrive filing structures for the front office.
• Tag documents, manage versions, apply naming conventions and archive files according to UNEP/UN standards.
• Migrate documents from legacy systems to structured digital repositories.
• Provide troubleshooting assistance for Teams, SharePoint, Planner and other M365 applications.
• Prepare presentations, visuals and documentation for internal meetings of the Director.
• Assist with meeting logistics and set‑up.
• Maintain up‑to‑date contact lists for the Director’s Office.
• Participate in training and learning opportunities offered to interns.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme, or the final year of a bachelor’s degree, or holding a university degree in Information Technology, Business Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field.
