Information Systems Officer

About the role

The United Nations Office at Nairobi is seeking an Information Systems Officer to lead and manage conference technology services for UNON clients, including governments and UN entities. The role involves overseeing the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of a wide range of audio‑visual and ICT solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership for conference technology, including CMSI, RSI, AV distribution and control, broadcasting, web‑streaming, recording, media asset management, video conferencing, digital signage and captioning.
• Mentor, supervise and evaluate the conference support team and contract staff, managing rosters and performance reviews.
• Collaborate with the Division of Conference Support to plan calendar and non‑calendar meetings, ensuring accurate billing and cost‑recovery.
• Develop cost proposals, prepare procurement plans and oversee technical evaluation of vendor proposals for conference technology services.
• Gather and monitor AV and ICT requirements, track progress against plans, collect customer feedback and drive continuous improvement.
• Propose and update policies, standards and operating procedures to ensure end‑to‑end conference technology support and compliance.
• Plan and execute phased upgrades of outdated AV and IT equipment to maintain uninterrupted service.

Required profile

• Demonstrated operational and technical leadership in conference or audio‑visual environments.
• Experience supervising junior staff and managing contract personnel.
• Ability to develop cost proposals and manage procurement processes.
• Strong customer‑focus with a track record of continuous improvement.
