Investment Officer

About the role

The Investment Officer will play a pivotal role in executing ACIF's investment strategy across direct and fund investments in African champions. This position offers the chance to source, manage, and exit investments while contributing to thematic research and impact reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and execute direct investments in African firms aligned with ACIF’s objectives.
• Develop financial models, valuations, and investment memoranda to support investment decisions.
• Lead due‑diligence processes, coordinating with financial, legal, tax, and impact advisors.
• Structure transactions, oversee legal documentation, and manage closing activities.
• Work with portfolio companies to refine forecasts, drive growth, and achieve impact goals.
• Assess and execute fund investments in private equity and private credit vehicles.
• Conduct thematic sector research to generate investment ideas and internal expertise.
• Prepare and deliver regular performance and impact reporting for both direct and fund portfolios.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field; Master’s degree or CFA preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in private equity or private credit investing.
• Proven ability to build and defend investment cases to senior committees.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in financial modeling and valuation.
