Mergers & Acquisitions Associate – Corporate Law

About the role

The Mergers and Acquisitions Associate will manage corporate transactions from inception to completion, providing legal advice and drafting key documents. Working closely with partners and senior associates, the role also includes mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to the firm’s pan‑African growth strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Support M&A transactions from start to finish, including deal structuring and post‑transaction integration.
• Conduct legal due diligence, compile findings, assess risks, and present recommendations.
• Draft and review transactional documents such as share purchase agreements, shareholders’ agreements, and ancillary contracts.
• Advise clients on regulatory requirements and compliance matters specific to Kenya.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external counsel to ensure timely deal execution.
• Supervise, train, and guide junior associates and paralegals on transaction matters.
• Maintain client relationships and support business‑development initiatives.

Required profile

• LLB degree with strong academic record and admission to practice in Kenya.
• 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience in corporate or M&A practice at a top‑tier or medium‑sized law firm.
• Demonstrated ability to handle complex, cross‑border transactions and multinational clients.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commercial acumen.
