National Qualitative Research Consultant - CT-OVC Study

About the role

UNICEF is recruiting a national qualitative research consultant to co-lead a study on the long-term and intergenerational effects of the CT-OVC cash transfer programme in Kenya. The consultancy covers the Life Histories and Key Informant Interviews components of the study, working closely with the QuIP consultant. It is open to nationals of Kenya only, with a duration of 10.3 months and a home-based arrangement with travel.

Key responsibilities

• Inception: review programme documents and literature, and prepare the inception mission (about 5 working days), including an observation checklist and workshop methodology.
• Study design: co-develop the final design and protocol, prepare guides for Life Histories and KIIs, coordinate the ethical review and train the local data collection team.
• Supervise data collection and transcription monitoring, with a field mission of about 7 working days.
• Analyse transcripts, triangulate with QuIP findings and draft the report sections on Life Histories and KIIs, as well as other chapters.
• Present findings at the validation workshop, co-draft the final report, prepare a policy brief and a presentation, and deliver presentations as required.
• Co-draft a manuscript for journal submission.
