Payroll & Treasury Accountant (Hotel)

About the role

A luxury leisure lodge in Diani, Kenya, is looking for an experienced Payroll and Treasury Accountant. The role covers accurate and timely payroll processing with full statutory compliance, and oversees the resort's general cashiering and cash-handling functions to support strong financial controls and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Process monthly payroll accurately and on time, ensuring completeness and compliance.
• Calculate, process and remit statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, housing levy, etc.).
• Reconcile payroll costs with the general ledger, investigate variances and keep accurate payroll records, reports and audit schedules.
• Maintain and update payroll systems, ensure data integrity and support upgrades, testing and user training.
• Recommend and implement payroll process improvements, and respond to employee payroll queries professionally and confidentially.
• Collect cashier remittance envelopes from the drop safe with a witness, verify against Protelair reports and reconcile shift drops with cash register totals, forex reports and transaction records.
• Prepare and deposit cash and cheque collections daily, disburse approved petty cash, process vouchers and reimbursements, and prepare the General Cashier's Daily Report for the Income Auditor and Assistant Financial Controller.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CPA (K) or equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in payroll accounting and cash management.
• Demonstrated honesty and accountability in cash handling.
