Personnel Security Specialist (Adjudicator)

About the role

The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) is seeking a Personnel Security Specialist (Adjudicator) to evaluate security investigations and make clearance decisions. This onsite, term position supports national security by reviewing investigative findings and recommending grant, denial, or revocation of clearances.

Key responsibilities

• Review and assess personnel security investigations, incident reports, and continuous‑evaluation alerts for derogatory information.
• Interpret and apply DoD security policies, regulations, and guidelines to determine clearance eligibility.
• Make recommendations on granting, denying, or revoking clearances using the “whole person” concept.
• Identify insufficient or conflicting data and initiate additional investigations, evaluations, or interviews as needed.
• Document all determinations in the appropriate automated information systems.
• Utilize analysis tools and stay current on emerging security technologies.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen.
• Male applicants born after 12‑31‑1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
• Ability to analyze complex investigative data and make sound security judgments.
• Willingness to work onsite at a local DCSA field office and adhere to a flexible, intermittent schedule (up to 80 hours per pay period).
• Eligibility for drug testing and compliance with DCIPS (Excepted Service) requirements.
