Rates Officer I – Nairobi City County

About the role

The Nairobi City County Public Service Board is recruiting a Rates Officer I for a full-time, on-site position in Nairobi. The officer assesses and collects property rates, verifies property details, follows up on outstanding payments, answers taxpayer inquiries and ensures compliance with county rating regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and collect land rates in the assigned sub-counties
• Identify un-rated properties and update the rates register
• Serve rates demand notices and follow up on arrears
• Prepare land rates collection returns
• Perform any other duties allocated by the supervisor

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Land Economics, Real Estate, Valuation, Commerce, Finance or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution
• Experience serving in the grade of Rates Officer II or an equivalent position for at least three years
• Knowledge of the National Rating Act 2024, the Nairobi City County Revenue Administration Act 2021 and the Public Finance Management Act 2012
• Integrity, ability to work with minimum supervision, and meeting the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010
