About the role
The Risk & Compliance Officer will lead the organisation's regulatory compliance and enterprise risk management programmes. Reporting to senior leadership, the role ensures adherence to Kenya's Capital Markets Act, CMA regulations, NSE rules, and other relevant legislation while providing practical risk advice that supports business growth.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including Capital Markets Act, CMA regulations, NSE rules, CDSC requirements, POCAMLA, AML/CFT legislation, and the Data Protection Act.
- Act as primary liaison with regulatory authorities during inspections, licensing activities, statutory submissions, audits, and ongoing correspondence.
- Monitor regulatory developments and advise management on legislative changes affecting operations, products, and strategic initiatives.
- Prepare, review, and submit statutory returns, regulatory reports, and disclosures within prescribed timelines.
- Maintain accurate compliance registers, regulatory records, and documentation to support internal and external audits.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the enterprise risk management framework, including risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and reporting.
- Collaborate with business leaders to embed regulatory requirements into new products, processes, and strategic projects from inception.
- Promote a strong governance culture, strengthen internal controls, and support sound decision‑making through proactive risk identification and monitoring.
Required profile
- Commercially minded professional with proven experience in risk and compliance within the financial services or capital markets sector.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan capital markets regulations, including CMA, NSE, CDSC, and related legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with senior business leaders and regulatory bodies.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Commitment to fostering a culture of governance, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement.
