Safety and Security Manager

About the role

The Safety and Security Manager leads the implementation of Johanniter’s security management framework across Kenya, supporting the Country Director, national staff and project offices. The role ensures the safety of personnel, assets and operations in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia through risk assessment, crisis coordination and compliance with organisational and local requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain security policies, procedures and risk‑assessment tools for the region.
• Conduct regular threat analyses and update contingency plans.
• Coordinate crisis response and emergency evacuation procedures.
• Provide security briefings and training to staff and partners.
• Monitor compliance with local regulations and organisational standards.
• Liaise with government authorities, NGOs and other stakeholders on security matters.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree or equivalent professional experience in security, risk management or a related field.
• Proven experience managing safety and security programmes in complex, multi‑country environments.
• Strong understanding of regional security dynamics in East Africa.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
