Security Assistant (G-5) – Temporary, Nairobi

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Security Assistant (G-5) on a three‑month temporary appointment to support the Country Field Security Advisor and the Security Section in Nairobi, Kenya. The role provides technical, operational and administrative assistance to ensure the safety of staff, assets and programme delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and security of UNICEF personnel, eligible family members and assets in Kenya.
• Support secure programme implementation and compliance with UN security policies, procedures and standards.
• Contribute to security planning, safety and security services, and coordination with external partners.
• Facilitate knowledge management, capacity building and networking within the security community.
• Assist with incident reporting, contingency planning and the use of security information systems.

Required profile

• Secondary education (or equivalent) in a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in security management, risk management, emergency response, physical security, incident management, field operations or related areas.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language or a local language is desirable.
• Experience working at country level in development, fragile or humanitarian contexts.
