Senior Lead - HR Shared Services & Employee Relations

About the role

M-KOPA is seeking a senior HR leader to redesign and run its Shared Services and Employee Relations function as the company scales from 7 million to 10 million customers. This role sits at the operational spine of a fast‑growing organization with 2,300 employees and 35,000 agents across multiple markets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end employee relations matters, including investigations of harassment, discrimination and misconduct, and provide strategic advice to senior leadership on disciplinary actions and legal risk.
• Design, implement and continuously improve ER policy frameworks to ensure consistent, compliant practice across all operating markets.
• Oversee HR Shared Services operations: contracts, records governance, payroll readiness, off‑boarding, SLA performance, and build dashboards and reporting infrastructure for visibility and improvement.
• Act as subject‑matter expert on labour relations, developing policies aligned with local legislation, supporting collective bargaining negotiations where applicable, and maintaining a strong compliance posture as M‑KOPA expands.

Required profile

• HR professional with deep experience in employee relations, employment law and operational HR or Shared Services leadership.
• Exposure to Sub‑Saharan Africa and Europe (UK experience strongly preferred).
• Proven track record conducting complex workplace investigations and advising senior management on legal and compliance risk.
• Relevant degree (HR, Law, Business Administration, Psychology) with a Master’s or HR certification preferred.
• Strong analytical capability and experience using HR data to drive operational improvement.
