About the role
Amentum is seeking a Ship’s Store Accountant to support a U.S. Navy retail program on the remote island of Diego Garcia. The role combines traditional accounting, cash handling, and inventory management in a mission‑driven environment.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records for ship’s store sales and resale operations.
- Reconcile cash handling procedures, sales transactions, and vendor invoices.
- Prepare accounting reports in line with Navy policies and retail standards.
- Track merchandise receipts, expenditures, stock levels, shrinkage, and item movement.
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual financial reviews, audits, and compliance inspections.
- Maintain point‑of‑sale (POS) system data and assist with merchandise ordering.
- Provide administrative and financial assistance to store leadership.
Required profile
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting, retail financial operations, or inventory management.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid passport with at least one year remaining at hiring.
- Ability to pass contract medical requirements and obtain necessary facility credentials.
- Willingness to work in an austere OCONUS environment.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using point‑of‑sale (POS) systems.
