Tokenization Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a Tokenization Specialist to lead the end‑to‑end implementation and launch of a leading bank’s digital‑wallet and card‑tokenisation capabilities in Nairobi. This senior delivery role combines hands‑on technical work with programme management, requiring deep knowledge of payments, tokenisation and wallet integrations.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full tokenisation rollout, managing timelines, budgets, risks and milestones.
• Act as the central coordination point between the bank’s business, IT, operations, marketing, processors, card schemes and wallet providers.
• Bring tokenisation services live across network token services (e.g., MDES), local token providers and Apple Pay/Google Pay integrations, ensuring readiness for contactless, e‑commerce and issuer platforms.
• Support go‑to‑market activities, collaborating with product and marketing teams on launch and adoption strategies.
• Monitor post‑launch performance, analysing provisioning, authorization rates and tokenised vs non‑tokenised transactions to identify and resolve configuration or risk‑rule gaps.

Required profile

• Based in Kenya or eligible to work onsite in Nairobi.
• 10+ years of experience in payments, with strong exposure to card issuing and digital payments.
• Proven track record delivering payments implementations and managing complex programmes.
• Hands‑on experience with tokenisation and digital‑wallet integrations.
• Strong understanding of API‑based integrations, including network tokenisation APIs.
