Vehicle Condition Inspector

About the role

ACV Auctions is seeking an enthusiastic Vehicle Condition Inspector to join its growing team. You will be the face of the company, providing accurate vehicle assessments and helping clients understand the condition of each car.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off‑lease locations to identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical issues.
• Prepare detailed condition reports, including repair or replacement cost estimates and photographic documentation.
• Collaborate with Territory Managers and sales teams to support upselling and cross‑selling of services.
• Maintain strong relationships with dealers, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.
• Travel to various sites, capture multiple photos, and upload them to the company’s image server using a smart‑phone.
• List inspected wholesale vehicles on the ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing.
• Onboard independent dealerships to use the digital auction platform.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in the automobile field with knowledge of body, paint, and mechanical repair.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently while contributing to a team.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a registered, insured vehicle.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift 25 lb or more, and perform manual tasks.

Required skills

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to operate both manual and automatic vehicle transmissions.
• Familiarity with web‑based applications and relevant software tools.
