Vice President, Africa Strategy & Execution

About the role

International Justice Mission (IJM) is seeking a Vice President, Africa Strategy & Execution to provide senior strategic, operational and people leadership for IJM's work across the Africa region. Reporting to the Interim Regional President, the Vice President is a key member of the regional leadership team and a principal partner to the Regional President, helping ensure continuity, strategic alignment and effective execution. The role is hybrid and based in Nairobi, Kenya, and is open only to candidates authorised to work in Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a senior member of the Africa regional leadership team and principal partner to the Interim Regional President, providing leadership continuity, strategic support and executive partnership
• Lead and model a culture of spiritual formation, prayerful leadership, integrity, humility, accountability, collaboration and professional excellence
• Provide direct leadership, coaching, development, performance management and accountability to assigned Country Directors, regional leaders and other direct reports
• Build and strengthen a diverse, high-performing regional leadership bench, including identifying, developing, retaining and supporting high-potential leaders and successors
• Assess team health, leadership capacity, organisational design, staffing requirements and succession risks with the Interim Regional President
• Develop, refine and implement the Africa Region's strategic priorities, operating plans and performance objectives in line with IJM's global strategy
• Conduct regular assessments of program health, protection outcomes, scalability and organisational risks, turning findings into recommendations for leadership
• Support Country Directors and regional leaders in setting clear goals, plans, decision rights, milestones and accountability mechanisms
• Contribute to improving IJM's protection models and program frameworks with the Global Programs Center for Excellence
• Lead or support regional strategic initiatives, special projects and change efforts, and lead assigned cross-regional or enterprise projects from scope through implementation
• Support regional operational coordination, clarify matrixed roles and decision rights, and uphold safeguarding principles, the Code of Ethics and security protocols
