About the role
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Deputy Director in charge of Finance & Administration will oversee finance, administration, procurement, and logistics functions for LUH‑Africa, ensuring effective and compliant financial management and operations to support the seamless implementation of program activities. The Deputy Director will provide strategic oversight across these functions, lead collaboration between technical and operations staff, and ensure strong financial reporting, analysis, internal controls, and organizational compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee budgeting, cash projections, financial reporting and cost control across all programmes and administration.
- Provide financial input and compliance guidance for grant proposals, monitor grant budgets and ensure timely donor reporting.
- Coordinate tendering, procurement and contract management, chair procurement committee meetings and ensure compliance with donor regulations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits and maintain robust internal controls and risk‑mitigation processes.
- Develop and maintain finance, procurement and logistics policies, manuals and internal control procedures.
- Line‑manage finance, procurement, logistics and administration staff and foster strong stakeholder relationships.
- Prepare and present regular financial and administrative reports to senior management.
- Deliver training and capacity‑building on compliance, policies and procedures to staff and partners.
Required profile
- University degree in Business, Management, Finance, Accounting or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA K) is a strong advantage.
- Minimum five years of progressive management experience overseeing donor‑funded project finance and accounting.
- Proven experience in procurement, grant financial management and supervising staff within the NGO sector.
- Demonstrated ability to lead audits, develop budgets and implement internal controls.
