Finance Officer (80-100K)

About the role

The Finance Officer will support day‑to‑day financial operations for an engineering and electrical solutions business in East Africa. The role covers accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, general accounting and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, verify against purchase orders, maintain supplier records and reconcile statements.
• Issue customer invoices, monitor receivables, allocate payments and follow up overdue accounts.
• Record daily cash and bank transactions, perform bank reconciliations and support cash‑management activities.
• Maintain the general ledger, post journals, assist with month‑end and year‑end closing and prepare routine finance reports.
• Reconcile inventory‑related transactions, support stock counts and provide ageing reports for payables and receivables.
• Assist with VAT/sales tax returns, support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant accounting/finance experience, preferably in a trading or distribution environment.
• Proficiency with accounting/ERP software and strong Excel skills.
• Knowledge of VAT/tax accounting and statutory compliance is an advantage.
• High level of accuracy, integrity and ability to meet deadlines.
