Head of East Africa

About the role

As the Head of East Africa you will develop and scale TaptapSend’s supply‑side partnerships across the region while growing the user base. You will manage every aspect of growth—including customer acquisition, retention, pricing, user research, product quality, customer experience, and team development.

Key responsibilities

• Establish a vision, strategy and execution plan for launching and scaling sending and receiving markets in East Africa.
• Drive adoption, improve profitability and increase brand awareness through creative growth tactics.
• Report progress, insights and needs to the executive leadership team with a data‑driven, test‑and‑learn mindset.
• Monitor, understand and interpret growth, operational and financial metrics to optimise execution.
• Build trust‑based relationships with diaspora communities and commercial partners to strengthen brand and unit economics.
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as Customer Service, Finance, Tech, Legal, Compliance and People Ops.
• Own growth tactics across sending countries, including acquisition, retention, pricing and product quality.
• Recommend product improvements based on market, competitor and customer insights.
• Lead, hire, inspire and develop a diverse on‑ground team to execute aligned timelines.

Required profile

• Preference for a Nairobi, Dubai or London base with ability to travel internationally as needed.
• Keen interest in the East African diaspora and advanced stakeholder‑management capability.
• Experience building, developing, managing and leading multi‑regional teams.
• Understanding of the East African regulatory landscape (financial regulation advantageous).
• Strong analytical skills with a data‑driven decision‑making approach.
• 7‑15 years of experience in fast‑paced, high‑growth environments such as startups, consulting or finance.
• “Own it” mindset combined with outgoing, execution‑oriented and mission‑driven attitudes.
