Head of Solar Division (Nairobi)

About the role

The client, a well‑established renewable‑energy organisation, is seeking a commercially driven Head of the Solar Division to lead growth, manage customer relationships and oversee end‑to‑end project delivery in Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Generate new solar opportunities and build a strong C&I sales pipeline.
• Lead the sales process from enquiry and site assessment through proposal, negotiation and deal closure.
• Develop profitable solutions across Solar PV, hybrid systems, BESS, EPC and PPA offerings.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers, consultants, developers, EPC partners and suppliers.
• Oversee project delivery from procurement and installation to testing, commissioning and handover.
• Lead after‑sales service, O&M contracts, system expansion and repeat business.
• Monitor commercial performance, including sales, profitability, invoicing, collections and project progress.
• Lead and develop the Solar Division team to achieve business and operational targets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 8–10 years of relevant experience in Solar PV, renewable energy or electrical power, with at least 5 years in a managerial, commercial or senior technical role.
• Proven experience in C&I solar sales, project execution and managing the full solar project lifecycle.
• Experience in the Kenyan or East African renewable‑energy market is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Solar PV systems, hybrid solutions and BESS.
• Understanding of EPC processes, PPA structures and solar monitoring/energy management systems.
• Technical expertise in energy analysis and electrical systems.
• Commercial and financial awareness for project costing and profitability.
