Lubricants Business Development Lead – Nairobi

About the role

The client is launching a new lubricants division in Kenya and seeks a hands‑on Business Development Lead to build the business from the ground up. You will own the P&L, drive strategy, sales, distribution and product portfolio, and ensure profitable growth across B2B and B2C segments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the overall lubricants business strategy, set annual plans, budgets and sales targets, and own P&L performance.
• Lead sales and business development across industrial, automotive and commercial channels, managing key distributors, dealers and strategic accounts.
• Manage product portfolio development, launches, specifications and lifecycle, ensuring compliance with OEM and regulatory standards.
• Design pricing, procurement and supply‑chain strategies to optimise margins, inventory and supply reliability.
• Create and implement marketing and brand initiatives, including trade promotions, digital campaigns and market intelligence.
• Monitor financial performance, KPIs and governance, reporting results and recommendations to senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Chemistry or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of commercial experience in lubricants, oil & gas, energy, automotive or FMCG, with proven P&L responsibility.
• Strong track record in sales, business development, channel management and commercial strategy.
• Experience managing distributors, strategic accounts and complex B2B/B2C routes to market.
• Deep understanding of lubricant products, specifications and market dynamics.
• Excellent financial and analytical capabilities.
