About the role
IREX is seeking a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Officer to lead the day‑to‑day MEL activities for the Fostering the Future Together (FTFT) initiative in Kenya. Based in Nairobi, the officer will work closely with project staff, partners, and government counterparts to ensure high‑quality data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Key responsibilities
- Operationalize the project’s results framework and performance monitoring plan, maintaining indicator reference sheets, baselines, targets, data sources, and verification methods.
- Develop and maintain quantitative and qualitative data collection tools, databases, dashboards, and reporting workflows across schools, community learning sites, training providers, and apprenticeship hosts.
- Coordinate data flows and reporting schedules with all delivery sites and consortium partners, ensuring consistent application of indicator definitions.
- Monitor participant reach, service quality, completion rates, referrals, apprenticeship progression, employment outcomes, and institutional capacity changes, disaggregated by relevant groups.
- Track youth progression from training through apprenticeship to job placement and compile employer and market evidence for fair‑labor and U.S. benefit reporting.
- Conduct routine data quality assessments, verification, cleaning, and reconciliation, and ensure child‑safe data practices.
- Produce clear reports and practical recommendations for project management and donors.
Required profile
- Relevant university degree (e.g., social sciences, development studies, statistics, public health, or related field).
- Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning within development or non‑profit projects.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel regularly to project counties.
