Senior Financial Accountant – Financial Control, Compliance & Operations

About the role

The Science for Africa Foundation seeks a Senior Financial Accountant to lead financial control, compliance and operational activities. You will ensure the integrity of accounting records, oversee the close process and support audit and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate general ledger, review journals and perform account reconciliations.
• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial close cycles.
• Implement and monitor internal control frameworks and compliance processes.
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities, prepare schedules and track audit recommendations.
• Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance, including tax and reporting obligations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field.
• Professional qualification such as CPA(K) or ACCA and membership in a recognised accounting body.
• Minimum seven years of relevant experience in financial accounting, reporting and audit coordination.
• Experience in donor‑funded or international development environments is desirable.
• Strong analytical, planning and organisational abilities with high integrity.

• Experience using financial management systems.
